You Tie.. then you Die (dye)

Sascha Shipley and I decided to sign up for the After School Activity on Monday since it is the only day we're available. We looked at different ASA on monday and the mojor thing that attrated us was Tie dye. At first we thought it would be a good opportunity to develop new skills. Even if i have had done tie dye before, this might allow me to learn new tricks and skills about tie dye in order to create a better result.
Tie dye is run by Ms. Veena Fernando. She is really passionate about tie dye and so are we. Our group is rather very small, it includes Sascha, Musna and myself.

In the beginning, we Planned and initiated activities correctly so when it comes to the action part, nothing goes wrong. we had to Worked collaboratively with others because we had to work with reactive chemicals within the procedure. In fact, by the time we are comfortable with creating tie dye,I could still see the perseverance and commitment in the activity we are involved with.

I have taken some of the pictures but sadly non of them have myself in it (because i was the guy with the camera!) But i will take the photos of myself with the objects that I managed to tie dye.

Basketball, Nepal'11

The Overseas School of Colombo has been preparing or another word, starting its SAISA Third Season of Girls' Basketball since December 2010. 8 Weeks or less of attempting to bond up and create a Basketball team. At the beginning, yes, we were pretty much a chaos. Half of the team did not know what to do, not even know how to dribble or pass a ball. The first day, Mr. Tharindu Ferenando, the new coach of the Overseas Basketball team has put up two questions for us which needs to be answer before we even begin to stat praticing, 'Why are you here? What do you wish to get out of this season?'. Many of us said, 'for fun and fitness', myself said, 'for fitness and make the SAISA team.' "You're not here to have fun, you're here to play basketball as a team, as a weapon." he replied. The whole team didn't understand it, some even quit, but most stayed.

Weeks and weeks, the team finally Developed new skills.  ,Even if it wasn't so much to win the practice games with the Gateway Collage girls or the Sri Lankan National Team. But that was when we all began to see that the team was Working collaboratively with others and we were able to Considered the ethical implications of their actions.

Finally, off we left to Kathmandu, Nepal; to the Lincoln School. There were 7 teams in total. Everyteam are the same as us, they had couple of weeks to bond up the team and got ready for the competition.

I must say that this season was HARD, EXCITING, COLD, INTENSE and CRAZY. At the end I came back to Sri Lanka with 4 bruises on my body. But throughout every single games, we had really Shown perseverance and commitment in all of the games. We Planned and initiated in every single minute of the game.

As the result, the Overseas School's Girls Basketball team has came on the 3rd place.

ART_cas

Terunaga and I decided to continue the Community and service which started last year by a group of 10 graders of the Overseas School of Colombo. The service is called ART CAS. Yes, we provide service directly to the Secondary  Art room at OSC. Terunaga as a CAS leader and myself as a vice. Planned and initiated activities

ART CAS has aims to organize and clean the art room and make it a better environment for the students. In organizing the materials in good condition, we are indirectly saving our community money that, instead of purchasing new art equipments, could be used for improving other areas of school.

The art teacher, Ms. Jane Barnett, has agreed to be the supervisor of this Community Service and we’re hoping to have this every Thursday afterschool from 2:40 p.m to 3:30 p.m. We are looking for about 8 students from grades 10 through 12.

Through this community service project, we hope to achieve some of the 8 criteria, which are the objectives of CAS. As for everybody who will be involved in this activity, this will be something new and everybody will undertake new challenge. To confront this challenge, everybody will need to work collaboratively with others, and show perseverance and commitment in this activity. Through this activity, we hope that this will contribute to better environment in the art room and the students involved are also able to develop new skills, such as working in a systematic manner accomplish tasks in the most efficient way. This engages with some issues of community money being wasted.

Wack it. Smack it. Win it!

Reflection on my goals for Badminton

  • To build up my basic skills that I have forgotten
  • Able to help one of the player in the group in order to get into the school badminton team in the future.
After 4 sessions of Badminton, I could see theDeveloped new skills of people who I brought out individually to practise outside their play time. I realized how they all want to relax and play, but I only want their 15 minutes to help them blemish up their skills. I Planned and initiated activities, For example:
  • Serves
  • Overhead hit
  • Backhand
  • Drop shots (back-hand and fore-hand)
But in order to make this work, I need to push them to Show perseverance and commitment in their activities.

Now, since we only have 3-4 weeks left, Terunaga and I decided that we should have a mini tournament within our ASA group. We haven't decide any further information yet but soon will update. The goal for this competition is to see who would be able to overcome our expectations, meaning we're putting up rank from 1 to 10 then the competition would show who could possibly
